Governor Umo Eno has defended the welfare of his aides, insisting none of them earn less than ₦1 million monthly while urging constituents to hold appointees accountable.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, on Friday dismissed criticism over the welfare of his Personal Assistants (PAs), declaring that none of them earns below ₦1 million monthly.
Speaking during a constituency engagement with residents of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, the governor described reports of poor remuneration as “pure mischief.”
“Let me set the record straight, no PA in this administration earns less than a million naira. When some of them speak, they make it sound like a mere stipend. To me, ₦1m is not a stipend, it is serious money,” Eno said.
He praised Blessed Essien, a PA on Protocol, who funded a borehole project for his community, promoting him to Special Assistant on Public Works.
The governor also announced plans to publish a full list of political appointees to strengthen accountability.
