Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has admitted the painful compromises he was forced to accept to regain his position and restore peace with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

In a statement on Saturday, Mr Fubara, addressing supporters, acknowledged that while he and Mr Wike were hurt by the crisis, reconciliation was essential.

“We have fought. If you want to be truthful to yourself, the only solution is peace,” he said. “I did say there’s no price too big for peace — I meant it.”

While he declined to disclose the conditions reached during talks with President Bola Tinubu and Mr Wike, Mr Fubara stressed the sacrifices necessary for Rivers’ progress.

“You can’t take away the fact that he’s hurt… I also have my own share of pains too,” he added.

He urged supporters to accept the settlement, noting that abandoned projects underscored the need to end hostilities.
