“A notice for the meeting has already been sent out by the SSG,” a top official said, reflecting growing tensions in the administration.

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has dismissed two political aides who defied his directive by attending the just-concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. The affected officials are Joseph Jacob Ikpak, Senior Special Assistant on Support Services, and Felix Ekuri, Special Assistant on Neighbourhood Watch.

Their removal was announced on Monday in a statement issued in Uyo by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, who said the action formed part of the governor’s “ongoing restructuring exercise to align the machinery of government towards the success of the Renewed Hope and ARISE Agenda.”

However, insiders told Premium Times that the sack was triggered by photos showing both men at the Ibadan convention, which have circulated widely on Facebook. Sources said Governor Eno, angered by the development, has summoned all political aides to an emergency meeting on Wednesday as tensions rise within Government House.
