“There is no evidence that Biden ordered it, directed it, or was even aware it was happening in his name.”
WASHINGTON — A pro-energy watchdog group is calling for a federal investigation into several executive actions from the Biden administration, alleging they were signed via autopen without former President Joe Biden’s knowledge or public acknowledgment.
Power the Future reviewed eight climate-related executive orders and found “no evidence” Biden publicly discussed them. “These are not obscure bureaucratic memos; these were foundational shifts in American energy policy,” said Daniel Turner, the group’s executive director.
Among the orders scrutinized: a 2023 Arctic drilling ban, a 2021 net-zero emissions directive, and a late-2025 offshore drilling ban. The group sent letters to the DOJ, EPA, DOE, DOI, and key congressional committees requesting a probe into who authored and approved the measures.
“In light of the growing evidence… the need for congressional access to information has grown,” one letter read.
The controversy centers on autopen use—legal under a 2005 DOJ ruling—though critics question its overuse amid concerns about Biden’s mental acuity.
“There is no evidence that Biden ordered it, directed it, or was even aware it was happening in his name,” said Turner, warning of a “great fraud on the nation.”
The White House has not commented. Legal experts say challenges to autopen use are unlikely to succeed in court.
