Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has called on President Tinubu to sever diplomatic relations with the United States if former President Trump fails to withdraw his military threat against Nigeria.

Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive diplomatic action against former U.S. President Donald Trump following his reported threat of military intervention in Nigeria.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Gumi described Trump’s remarks as “a profound disrespect to our authority,” urging Tinubu to respond firmly.

“President Tinubu should summon the US ambassador; they either retract their threats or we sever diplomatic ties with this irresponsible regime,” he stated.

The Kaduna-based cleric added that Nigeria must consider alternative partnerships for growth and defense, saying, “There are lots of other options for our economic expansion and military alliance.”

Gumi emphasized that Nigeria’s sovereignty must not be compromised “under any foreign intimidation.”
