Erling Haaland scored his 50th Champions League goal in record time, surpassing Ruud van Nistelrooy’s benchmark in just 49 matches.
Erling Haaland cemented his place in football history on Thursday night, becoming the fastest player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
The Manchester City striker reached the milestone during his side’s clash with Napoli at the Etihad Stadium, finding the net to give City the lead. Haaland needed only 49 appearances to achieve the feat, shattering the previous record of 62 games set by Dutch legend Ruud van Nistelrooy.
At 26 years and 22 days old, the Norwegian is also the second-youngest player to reach the half-century mark, trailing only Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé, who did so at 25 years and 356 days.
The strike also lifted Haaland to ninth on the all-time Champions League scorers list, level with Arsenal icon Thierry Henry. His latest record further underscores his reputation as one of the most prolific forwards of the modern era.
