Hamas says it will release 10 living Israeli hostages and 18 bodies as part of a ceasefire proposal submitted to mediators. The offer includes a 60-day truce and Israeli prisoner releases.
Hamas on Saturday announced it has submitted its formal response to a ceasefire proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, offering the release of 10 living Israeli hostages and 18 bodies.
The response, relayed to mediators, includes conditions for a 60-day truce, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
“This proposal aims to achieve a permanent ceasefire, a comprehensive withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and ensure the flow of aid to our people and our families in the Gaza Strip,” Hamas said.
According to sources cited by Asharq Al-Awsat, Hamas held meetings with Palestinian factions in Doha, Beirut, and elsewhere to ensure a united front.
The group reportedly rejected a clause calling for hostage releases on just two days in the first week, instead proposing a phased release over two months.
Hamas insiders described the response as balanced, stressing that any progress depends on sustained US pressure on Israel to meet minimum Palestinian demands.
