EFCC Investigating 18 Sitting Governors – Olukoyede

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that the agency is currently investigating 18 sitting governors across Nigeria.

Speaking during a sensitisation programme in Lagos on Friday, Olukoyede stated that the investigations are ongoing despite the immunity provisions shielding the governors.

He emphasized that the agency does not need to wait for a governor to leave office before launching an investigation, noting that actions would be taken once the legal window allows.

Recalling a past incident, Olukoyede narrated how a former governor fled Nigeria for the UK and was later arrested there for spraying pounds sterling at a birthday party.

The EFCC boss made the remarks while addressing stakeholders, including filmmakers and Bureau de Change operators, on naira abuse and mutilation.


ADC Blasts Tinubu Over Appointments, Says North Can’t Be Bought

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointments, describing them as a “desperate attempt” to regain Northern trust.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the move as “too little, too late,” accusing Tinubu of marginalising the North for over two years.

The party said the appointments, including that of IBB’s son, were “political panic management” and warned that symbolic gestures cannot repair “gaping wounds inflicted by neglect and nepotism.”

According to the ADC, Tinubu cannot treat Nigeria as an extension of Lagos and expect to gain national approval by last-minute inclusion.


Police Halt Obi Supporters’ Birthday Rally in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has stopped a planned rally in honour of Mr Peter Obi’s birthday.
