Hilda Baci is set to attempt the world’s largest jollof rice cook-a-thon in Lagos on September 12, framing it as both a record bid and a cultural festival.

Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has been spotted in a viral video preparing a test batch of jollof rice in a massive, custom-built pot.

The footage, which shows her working alongside a team of helpers and onlookers, comes as part of her preparations for an ambitious attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. The official record bid will take place on September 12, 2025, at the Gino World Jollof Festival in Lagos, a celebration of West African food, music, and culture.

The festival will be free to attend and will feature live performances to mark the occasion. Baci, who rose to international recognition in 2023 after setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, has emphasized that the project is not just about breaking records but also about celebrating culture and bringing people together.
