The House Oversight Committee has requested interviews with President Joe Biden’s former doctor and top aides over allegations they concealed his cognitive decline and may have signed official documents on his behalf.
Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sent letters to Dr. Kevin O’Connor and four senior Biden aides following reports about Biden’s mental health struggles and recent Stage IV prostate cancer diagnosis.
“The cover-up of President Biden’s obvious mental decline is a historic scandal,” Comer said. The committee is also reviewing legislation to improve oversight of presidential fitness.
The aides under scrutiny include Neera Tanden, Anthony Bernal, Annie Tomasini, and Ashley Williams. According to media reports and a new book, Original Sin, they may have shielded Biden’s condition and even performed presidential duties.
The Heritage Foundation noted increased autopen use, even on days Biden was present, raising further concerns.
“Five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board,” a former aide told the authors. Biden dismissed the claims, saying, “They’re wrong,” on ABC’s The View.
