Peter Obi has threatened to sue Deji Adeyanju for alleged defamation, but the activist lawyer says he is ready to face him in court.

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has threatened legal action against human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over alleged defamatory remarks.

In a notice issued by his legal representatives, EJESIMEN & CO MADIBA CHAMBERS, Obi accused Adeyanju of repeatedly making derogatory statements about him on X and other social media platforms.

The petition specifically cited an August 21 post in which Adeyanju alleged that Obi diverted funds from Anambra State into his family business.

Adeyanju also claimed he once met Obi, who allegedly attempted to give him money as a “thank you for coming,” insisting the account was “100% true.”

Obi’s legal team has demanded a public retraction of the allegations alongside an unreserved apology.

Reacting in a Facebook post on Wednesday night, Adeyanju dismissed the demand, declaring, “I can’t wait to meet him in court finally. A fraud parading himself as a messiah.”

Adeyanju, a vocal critic of Obi, has often clashed with the former governor’s supporters online. In recent posts, he insisted Obi could never become Nigeria’s president, describing his ambitions as unrealistic.
