“I don’t have any crisis with him (Fubara). I’m not the President who declared a State of Emergency; if Mr President had called me, I wouldn’t have agreed to the State of Emergency. “

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has denied any personal conflict with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, attributing the political tension in the state to third-party interference. Addressing reporters in Abuja on Monday, Wike accused Fubara of being weaponized by adversaries, stating: “I don’t have any crisis with him. He allowed himself to be used as a tool by my enemies.” The former Rivers governor also distanced himself from President Tinubu’s State of Emergency declaration, asserting he was neither consulted nor in support.

Wike criticized the move, remarking: “If Mr. President had called me, I wouldn’t have agreed.” He further lambasted the PDP’s internal strife as the work of “undertakers,” vowing to resist impunity. The minister’s comments come amid escalating tensions in Rivers, where Tinubu’s emergency measures followed weeks of political unrest.

While Wike affirmed his neutrality, he declined to speculate on the emergency rule’s duration, noting: “He [Tinubu] knows when to lift it.” The remarks underscore deepening divisions within the PDP and rising scrutiny of federal interventions in state politics.
