“I was surprised when people said I was not from the North. I am a child of the North, and I come from Ilorin. I was brought up in Kaduna State. I started learning Yoruba when I was 15 years old.”

Newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has clarified his northern roots while calling for national support to deliver on his mandate.
“I was surprised when people said I was not from the North. I am a child of the North, and I come from Ilorin. I was brought up in Kaduna State. I started learning Yoruba when I was 15 years old,” Ojulari said, urging prayers and cooperation. “I need the support of the North to do this work well and bring development to the North and the whole of Nigeria.”
On reported tensions with Dangote Group, Ojulari said: “Dangote has made significant contributions… You won’t hear of any more clashes between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery.”
Addressing oil price fluctuations, he noted, “This decline affects Nigeria’s budget,” but added that NNPCL is cutting costs to maximize revenue. On fuel pricing, he explained that local pump prices will reflect global drops once new stocks are procured.
