The victim expresses dissatisfaction with the court’s decision to grant bail to the suspect, highlighting concerns over local security and justice.

In Adamawa State, a local vigilante’s attempt to assist a friend turned disastrous when he was violently attacked by a group of hoodlums in Demsa Local Government Area. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the victim responded to a distress call from a friend being accosted by armed youths demanding his mobile phone.

Upon arrival, the vigilante recognized the assailants and questioned their actions. “I recognized them and asked why they wanted to kill my friend,” he recounted. “But instead of answering, one of them struck me with a machete on the shoulder. I started bleeding instantly — my arm was almost cut off.”

Following months of hospitalization and nearly N1 million spent on treatment, the victim faced severe hardship. “My wife left me because I couldn’t feed the family,” he said. “I had sold everything I owned just to stay alive.”

The suspect was later granted bail after claiming he was drunk, sparking outrage among residents.
