The prosecution counsel, Iyabo Oladoyin, alleged that Ms Sodiq, on March 27, at about 6:30 p.m. at Akinrinmisi area, Amuloko, Ibadan, caused the death of her husband, Abiodun Ibironke, 64.
A 27-year-old housewife, Rukayat Sodiq, has been remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan over the alleged murder of her husband, Abiodun Ibironke.
The Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate T.G. Daodu, ordered Ms Sodiq’s remand on Wednesday, citing the lack of jurisdiction to take her plea at this stage. The case has been adjourned until May 22 for mention.
The prosecution counsel, Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that on March 27 at around 6:30 p.m., at Akinrinmisi area, Amuloko, Ibadan, Ms Sodiq allegedly struck her 64-year-old husband on the head with a stick during a heated argument. This assault, according to police reports, led to Mr Ibironke’s death.
Magistrate Daodu directed that the case be referred to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice, as the court lacks the jurisdiction to try the matter at this point.
