NEFGAD faulted the Airline Operators of Nigeria for banning her without proper hearing and criticised police for rushing the case to court.
A Civil Society Organisation, the Network for the Actualisation of Social Growth and Viable Development (NEFGAD), has condemned Ibom Air and regulatory authorities over their handling of passenger Comfort Emmanson’s case, offering her free legal services.
In a Monday statement, NEFGAD Head of Office Omoniyi Akingunola described her treatment as “unfair, unjust, and unacceptable,” calling for a thorough investigation.
Emmanson was captured in viral videos attacking flight attendants on a Uyo–Lagos flight and confronting airport security. Ibom Air said she refused to switch off her phone before take-off, endangering safety, and has imposed a lifetime ban.
NEFGAD faulted the Airline Operators of Nigeria for banning her without proper hearing and criticised police for rushing the case to court.
Akingunola claimed footage of the incident is incomplete, urging the release of in-flight video to determine if Emmanson was provoked. He argued the situation may have been “deliberately escalated” and said cabin crew should not act as law enforcement.
