Okpebholo called on Ighodalo to accept the judgment and work toward unity in the state.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday affirmed the election of Monday Okpebholo as Governor of Edo State, unanimously upholding the earlier ruling of the state’s Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

The three-member panel dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, challenging the outcome of the September 21, 2024 governorship election.

Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election with 291,667 votes, defeating Ighodalo who scored 247,274 votes, and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata with 22,763 votes.

Reacting, Okpebholo called on Ighodalo to accept the judgment and work toward unity in the state.

“This judgment, being a confirmation of the people’s will, should serve as a clear signal for all political actors,” said his spokesperson, Fred Itua.

Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to his “People First” agenda and urged citizens to remain calm and focused on development.
