Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has been accused of attempting to unlawfully take over River Park Estate in Abuja from Ghanaian developer Kojo Mensha.

The allegation follows a ₦200 million lawsuit filed by Mr Mensha and partners against Mr Egbetokun and other security operatives, citing repeated harassment and breach of their fundamental rights.

“The defendants are not entitled to interfere with… a purely civil contractual and commercial transaction,” the suit reads.

The plaintiffs allege that a special panel report established by Mr Egbetokun was suppressed, while new investigations commenced to allegedly alter its findings.

They accuse FCT police commissioner Ajao Saka Adewale and EFCC officials of deploying officers without court approval to obstruct development at the estate.

The Federal High Court has restrained police from further interference pending a full hearing on June 26.

Protests erupted in Ghana, with activists demanding protection for Ghanaians doing business in Nigeria. “Our Ghanaian brothers… are being harassed,” said protest leader James Clark.
