Peter Obi has dismissed speculation about abandoning the Labour Party, confirming his 2027 presidential ambition will remain with the embattled opposition party. In a video message to young supporters, the politician addressed concerns about his apparent distance from ongoing LP crises.
“I will still continue to run in the Labour Party. I’m a member of the Labour Party,” Obi stated firmly. He alleged systemic sabotage of opposition parties, drawing parallels to past interventions: “Yar’Adua… told [INEC] I don’t want any problem in any party. We were forced to fix it.”
Positioning himself as an anti-establishment candidate, Obi promised institutional reforms: “These are some of the things I want to clean up if I have the opportunity,” signaling his campaign’s potential focus on democratic accountability.
