Immigrants may compete for US citizenship on Reality TV show, DHS reviews

The Department of Homeland Security is reviewing a proposal for a reality TV show where immigrants legally in the U.S. compete for citizenship through physical challenges.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the show would include tasks like gold mining and assembling Model Ts, with weekly eliminations. Rob Worsoff of Duck Dynasty fame is producing the concept.

At the same time, DHS faces backlash for deportations defying court orders. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem recently refused to assist in locating Andry José Hernández Romero, a gay Venezuelan asylum-seeker sent to El Salvador’s CECOT prison. “No one knows if he’s even alive,” said Rep. Robert Garcia.

Additionally, a Maryland man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, was deported despite a judge’s injunction. DHS is also quietly piloting a $5 million “Trump Gold Card” visa for wealthy applicants. “We’re doing a quiet trial,” Elon Musk wrote on X.

Rep. Joaquin Castro criticized the department, stating, “Under the Trump Administration we lose more of our humanity every day.”
