INEC has declared Anambra State 99% ready for the November 8 governorship election after assessing logistics, security, and accreditation systems.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Anambra State fully prepared for the November 8, 2025 governorship election, following a comprehensive weeklong readiness assessment by top officials from its Abuja headquarters.
The delegation, led by National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring, Rhoda Gumus, conducted inspections across local government areas, reviewed logistics, and assessed security arrangements. “Our visit has shown that Anambra is ready, INEC is ready, and the people are ready,” Gumus said.
According to a bulletin issued by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the team met with Resident Electoral Commissioner Queen Elizabeth Agwu and other officials to ensure all operational elements were in working order.
The team also observed voter card distribution and deployment of non-sensitive materials in Dunukofia and Oyi.
National Commissioners Kenneth Ukeagu and Sam Olumekun emphasized accountability and professionalism, urging officers to track every ballot, form, and vehicle used. “This is not business as usual. Payment will be prompt, but accountability must be total,” Ukeagu warned.
A mock accreditation exercise in Anambra East using upgraded BVAS devices showed effective performance, with INEC officials expressing confidence in a peaceful, credible election.
