The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced August 18, 2025, as the commencement date for the online pre-registration phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

This was disclosed on Friday in a message posted on the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. According to the statement, physical or in-person registration will begin a week later, on August 25, 2025.

INEC said the in-person registration would be conducted at its local government offices nationwide as well as other designated centers from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, excluding weekends.

As part of its ongoing activities, the Commission is also reviewing the applications of 144 political parties seeking registration and has so far captured 168,187 voters in Anambra State.

The CVR exercise aims to expand voter access ahead of upcoming elections and is part of INEC’s broader efforts to ensure electoral inclusiveness and participation.

“The online pre-registration starts on August 18 while the in-person registration commences on August 25,” the Commission stated.
