Ogun State Police have arrested a man seen in a viral video assaulting his wife over alleged infidelity, with authorities vowing strict action against domestic violence.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Fatai Quadri for allegedly assaulting his wife, Rukayat, during a violent domestic dispute at their residence in Illese-Ijebu.
His arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on September 15, 2025, showing him repeatedly punching his wife and inflicting injuries. Police spokesperson CSP Omolola Odutola confirmed in a weekend statement that operatives of the Igbeba Divisional Headquarters, Ijebu Ode, moved swiftly to apprehend the suspect.
“The suspect, who was seen inflicting fist blows on the victim, resulting in bodily harm, was promptly apprehended by operatives of the Igbeba Divisional Police Headquarters, Ijebu Ode,” Odutola said.
Preliminary investigations revealed the altercation stemmed from allegations of infidelity. Findings also showed Quadri had transferred ownership of a 10-room en-suite apartment, jointly built with his wife, to another woman.
The victim is receiving treatment, while the suspect remains in custody. Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo reaffirmed zero tolerance for domestic violence, urging victims to report cases promptly.
