Authorities are investigating the motive of a gunman who opened fire at a Minneapolis Catholic school, killing two children and wounding 17 others before taking his own life.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind a mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, where two children were killed and 17 others wounded Wednesday morning.
Police Chief Brian O’Hara said 23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire with multiple weapons during Mass, shooting through church windows before dying by suicide. The victims included children ages 6 to 15 and three elderly parishioners, all expected to survive their injuries.
Videos posted on a YouTube channel linked to Westman showed weapons marked with phrases such as “kill Donald Trump” and “Where is your God?” The FBI is treating the incident as a potential act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime.
Hundreds attended a vigil Wednesday night, where Archbishop Bernard Hebda said, “In the midst of that there was courage, there was bravery, but most especially there was love.”
Governor Tim Walz and President Trump ordered flags lowered to half-staff, while Pope Leo XIV sent condolences from the Vatican.
