Nearly two days into renewed hostilities between Israel and Iran, diplomatic efforts are emerging to de-escalate tensions.

US President Donald Trump said Sunday, “We will have peace, soon, between Israel and Iran,” adding, “They should make a deal and will make a deal.”

Trump claimed, “Many calls and meetings now taking place. I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s ok, the people understand. Make the Middle East great again.”

Meanwhile, Israeli media report that Iran has approached Qatar and Oman to mediate, expressing readiness to negotiate a ceasefire and urging US involvement in halting Israel’s offensive. Saudi Arabia is also reportedly exploring quiet diplomatic options.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said, “We are prepared for any agreement aimed at ensuring Iran does not pursue nuclear weapons.” However, he warned that Iran would reject any deal “that deprives Iran of its nuclear rights,” calling further US talks “unjustifiable.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran will “pay a very heavy price” and urged the US to support dismantling Iran’s nuclear program.
