Iran accused Israel of targeting media infrastructure ‘to silence the voice of truth
Iran has accused Israel of killing at least 12 journalists and media workers during their recent conflict, state media reported on Thursday. According to the IRNA news agency, the Basij paramilitary forces’ media arm said the death toll rose after two more victims were identified. The organisation alleged that Israel deliberately struck media infrastructure “to silence the voice of truth” and suppress “the media of the Resistance Front.”
The 12-day conflict, which began on June 13 with a surprise Israeli attack, saw heavy bombardment of Iranian military sites, nuclear facilities and residential areas. Iran says the Israeli campaign killed senior military commanders, nuclear scientists and hundreds of civilians, bringing the total death toll to 1,060. During the war, Israel also attacked the Iranian state broadcasting service in northern Tehran.
Retaliatory Iranian drone and missile strikes killed at least 28 people in Israel, according to official figures, as casualty numbers continue to rise even after the conflict’s end.
