Iran seeks de-escalation amid escalating war with Israel

“Iran’s missile barrage hit Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak, Petah Tikva and Haifa, killing 11 on Monday alone”

Iran has begun urgent backchannel efforts to de-escalate its conflict with Israel and resume nuclear negotiations, The Washington Post reported, citing Middle Eastern and European officials. Arab intermediaries have delivered Iran’s messages to both Tel Aviv and Washington.

The diplomatic overture follows a devastating Israeli aerial campaign launched Friday, which killed over 220 Iranians, including top military officers and nuclear scientists.

Iran responded with a missile barrage Monday that struck Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva, Haifa and Bnei Brak, killing 11 and raising Israel’s death toll to 24.

“Effective, targeted and more devastating operations will come,” Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned.

Meanwhile, Rafael Grossi, head of the UN’s IAEA, said there was “no indication of a physical attack” on underground uranium enrichment sites at Natanz, despite above-ground damage.

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee confirmed light damage to a U.S. embassy-linked facility in Tel Aviv. Iran also condemned an Israeli strike that hit a hospital in Kermanshah as a “war crime.”
