Iran has asked Oman and Qatar to mediate with the United States to help stop ongoing Israeli airstrikes, according to a report by i24NEWS.

The appeal, made on Sunday, suggests Tehran’s attempt to deescalate rising tensions amid sustained Israeli attacks on its nuclear and missile sites.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly also working behind the scenes to promote a ceasefire. With its interest in regional stability, Riyadh views diplomatic engagement as a possible solution to the ongoing crisis between Iran and Israel.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, met with foreign ambassadors to relay his country’s stance. “We do not wish to expand the war to the region – if the aggression stops, our responses will also cease,” Araqchi said.

The outreach to Gulf states marks a significant diplomatic shift from Tehran, signaling a potential opening for broader negotiations as Middle East hostilities escalate.
