Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi has declared a fatwa against U.S. President Donald Trump, calling him an “enemy of God,” amid rising tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.

A prominent Iranian cleric has declared a fatwa against U.S. President Donald Trump, calling him an “enemy of God” following a joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign on Iranian soil. Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi accused Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of mobareb—waging war against God—under Islamic law.

“Any cooperation or support for that enemy by Muslims or Islamic states is haram or forbidden,” Shirazi stated, adding, “It is necessary for all Muslims around the world to make these enemies regret their words and mistakes.”

The fatwa came as Iran retaliated against Israeli and U.S. targets in a 12-day conflict that erupted during nuclear negotiations. Trump later posted on Truth Social: “I am not offering Iran ANYTHING… nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities.”

Iran’s deputy foreign minister told the BBC that talks would not resume unless the U.S. rules out further aggression. The war’s aftermath leaves diplomacy in limbo as uranium enrichment remains a flashpoint.
