Alexander Isak completed a record £125m move to Liverpool as his agent delivered a cryptic parting shot at Newcastle following
a turbulent summer.
Alexander Isak’s agent, Vlado Lemic, has sparked speculation with a cryptic remark after the striker’s £125 million move from Newcastle United to Liverpool was confirmed on deadline day.
Speaking through talkSPORT host Jim White, Lemic wrote: “It’s nice when you have someone to be with, but it is even nicer when you know who you will never be with again.”
The statement follows a tense summer in which Isak refused to train or play for Newcastle, leaving Eddie Howe without a striker for the club’s opening fixtures.
Isak had previously cited “broken promises” and said the trust between him and Newcastle was “irreparable.”
Reports suggest former co-owner Amanda Staveley had pledged him a new deal, but it was later withdrawn under new management.
While Newcastle issued only a brief statement after his departure, teammates Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman paid heartfelt tributes on social media.
Isak, now training with Sweden ahead of the international break, later thanked the club, writing: “Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle.”
The transfer marks a British record and takes Liverpool’s summer spending past £400 million, while Newcastle moved quickly to sign replacements Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.
