Israel strikes central Tehran hours after ceasefire deal, as Iran denies breach of agreement

Tensions between Israel and Iran reignited just hours after a US-brokered ceasefire was announced, with Israel launching strikes in “the heart of Tehran” in response to what it called a “serious ceasefire violation.”

Israel’s military said it had intercepted missiles launched from Iran toward northern Israel. Defence Minister Israel Katz stated he had ordered “intense strikes” on regime targets in Tehran.

Iranian state media denied any ceasefire breach, countering Israel’s claims. “Iran denies reports that it has violated the ceasefire,” state outlets reported.

Sky News correspondent Cordelia Lynch, reporting from Beer Sheba—where five people were killed—described the damage as “extensive.”

“If the war with Iran is indeed over—a big if—attention will refocus on [Netanyahu’s] failures,” wrote analyst Tom Cheshire.

Meanwhile, oil prices dropped sharply following the ceasefire news, with Brent crude falling to $68.76 per barrel.

The Israeli military has since lifted shelter orders in the north, reporting no additional casualties.
