Israel threatens action after Hamas delays returning hostage bodies, as Trump’s Gaza plan discussions continue.
Israeli officials have warned Hamas that their patience is wearing thin as the militant group continues to withhold the remains of Israeli hostages five days after negotiations began.
“We won’t wait forever,” a senior Israeli political source told The Jerusalem Post. “President Trump gave Hamas a 48-hour ultimatum to make some kind of advancement on the issue of returning the bodies of the kidnapped victims and we will take action if Hamas fails to move forward.”
Officials said Hamas could immediately return most of the bodies without difficulty, though some require retrieval from underground sites. In a rare move, Israel allowed a Hamas representative to enter a controlled Gaza area under Israeli supervision to coordinate with Egyptian and Red Cross teams.
Meanwhile, discussions continue over Trump’s proposed plan for Gaza’s future governance, with Egypt suggesting limited Hamas involvement in local municipal roles under a technocratic administration.
