Israeli settlers storm military base in the West Bank

Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed a military base near Ramallah on Sunday night, vandalizing vehicles, setting fires, and attacking soldiers, according to the Israeli military.

The violence followed recent settler attacks in the West Bank and arrests by Israeli forces seeking to contain the unrest. “No civilized country can tolerate violent and anarchic acts of burning a military facility, damaging IDF property and attacking security personnel by citizens of the country,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Footage showed young religious settlers, associated with the extremist “hilltop youth,” surrounding the base as security forces used stun grenades. The military shared images of burned infrastructure used to counter terror threats.

Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, known for defending settlers, called the attack “a red line.” Opposition leader Yair Lapid labeled the rioters “Jewish terrorists.”

Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed to “eradicate this violence from the root.” The incident adds to rising tensions in the West Bank amid ongoing conflict with Hamas.
