Brigadier General M. Uba was captured and executed by ISWAP fighters in Borno after terrorists reportedly intercepted his location following a joint military operation.

Brigadier General M. Uba, a top Nigerian Army commander, has been killed by ISWAP militants after they allegedly intercepted and tracked his live location along the Damboa–Biu axis in Borno State. The senior officer was returning from a successful joint air–ground offensive against insurgents when terrorists ambushed his team, capturing him alive before briefly interrogating and executing him. Earlier communication with his superiors may have revealed his coordinates, according to security sources.

The incident followed a fierce battle in which the Nigerian Air Force provided emergency support to rescue ambushed troops. Military authorities, who initially denied the abduction, have since deployed top commanders and appointed a new brigade leader as search and rescue efforts continue for two other missing soldiers.
