Jamie Carragher believes Alexander Isak’s contract saga has “ruined” Newcastle United’s season and insists the striker must leave the club.

Jamie Carragher claims Newcastle United’s slow start to the Premier League season is down to uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak’s future. The Magpies remain winless after three games, including a goalless draw with Leeds United, and have scored just twice so far.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal, Carragher said:

“I think it’s better for Newcastle that (Liverpool) get Isak in as well. He’s ruined their first three games of the season… Just get Isak out the club, get your money! Obviously, it looks like he’s going to come to Liverpool.”

Newcastle face a decisive 24 hours before the transfer window closes, with Isak heavily linked with a move away. The club recently signed Nick Woltemade for a record fee in a bid to resolve their striking issues. Carragher insists offloading Isak is key if Eddie Howe’s side want to kick-start their campaign.
