Jandor warned Goodluck Jonathan against re-contesting in 2027, insisting that President Tinubu’s political strength and ongoing reforms make him unbeatable.
Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against returning to contest the 2027 presidential election, warning that such a move would result in a humiliating defeat.
Speaking in Lagos on Sunday, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate and leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement dismissed calls for Jonathan’s re-entry into the race, insisting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained politically unassailable.
“I disagree with people calling on Jonathan to re-contest, people saying Jonathan is the only person who can challenge Tinubu, citing his popularity and experience. It was this same man (Tinubu) who defeated him (Jonathan) from the outside. So, they are not the same,” Jandor said.
He described Tinubu as “a master in the game of politics,” stressing that Jonathan should remain in retirement and heed his wife’s public appeal not to run.
Jandor praised Tinubu’s leadership style, particularly his economic reforms, which he said had boosted state and local government allocations after fuel subsidy removal. “Now the allocation is tripled… the state and local governments now have enough money to impact lives,” he noted.
While admitting that reforms had triggered hardship, he argued that the long-term benefits would soon cushion the pains. He also urged the Armed Forces to give Tinubu full support in tackling insecurity.
