JD Vance: Waltz’s move to UN post is a ‘promotion,’ not related to ‘Signal’ leak,

“I think you could make a good argument that it’s a promotion,” Vance told Special Report on Fox News.

Vice President JD Vance has defended the nomination of National Security Adviser Mike Waltz as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, denying that the move was related to the recent Signal messaging controversy.

“I think you could make a good argument that it’s a promotion,” Vance told Special Report on Fox News, emphasizing that Waltz had achieved key reforms at the National Security Council.

Waltz’s reassignment follows scrutiny over his inclusion of media personnel in a secure group chat discussing U.S. strikes on Houthis in Yemen. However, Vance dismissed the incident, calling it a “nothingburger.”

In the Signal chat, Vance expressed concerns about the strikes: “There is a strong argument for delaying this a month… seeing where the economy is, etc.”

Despite internal disagreements, Vance affirmed the administration’s resolve: “We want to make sure \[goods] show up without the sailors getting killed… and that is an objective that we’re going to pursue force

fully, if we have to.”
