“Ms Lopez’s unauthorised use of the Images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion,” the lawsuit reads.
American superstar Jennifer Lopez is being sued for $300,000 after allegedly posting copyrighted photos from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards without permission.
According to Billboard, photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, filed a lawsuit claiming Lopez shared two of their images on social media without authorisation.
The posts, captioned “GG Weekend Glamour,” featured the singer-actress in a white gown and faux fur coat.
The lawsuit argues that Lopez’s use of the images was “commercial in nature,” aimed at promoting fashion partnerships by tagging clothing and jewelry designers.
“Ms Lopez’s unauthorised use of the Images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion,” it stated.
Backgrid alleges Lopez’s team previously discussed licensing the photos but never completed the agreement.
This isn’t Lopez’s first legal clash over photo rights; she faced similar lawsuits in 2019 and 2020 for reposting professional images without consent.
Blanco and Backgrid are seeking $150,000 in damages for each of the two images.
