Jennifer Lopez says her 2024 divorce from Ben Affleck was “the best thing that ever happened” to her, crediting it for personal growth while promoting her new film.
Jennifer Lopez has called her divorce from Ben Affleck “the best thing that ever happened to me.” The singer and actress, 56, opened up during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning while promoting her upcoming musical film Kiss of the Spider Woman, which Affleck produced.
“It was tough. It was a really tough time,” Lopez said, describing the challenges of filming while navigating her split. “Honestly, I have to say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Because it changed me… it helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow.”
Lopez finalized the divorce in January 2025 after filing in August 2024. She said this past summer was “probably the best summer I ever had.”
Lopez credited Affleck for helping finance the project, saying the movie “wouldn’t have been made if it wasn’t for him.” Affleck recently said the two remain on good terms, praising her as “an enormously important, tremendous person.”
