A new biography has alleged that former U.S. president John F. Kennedy had a secret affair with a young flight attendant in the 1950s and urged her to have an abortion after she became pregnant.
According to DAILY STAR, The book, JFK: Private, Public, Secret by biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli, reveals claims from the personal diaries and memoirs of Joan Lundberg , a 20-year-old brunette who lived in a trailer park when she met Kennedy in 1956, three years into his marriage to Jackie Kennedy.
According to the book, Kennedy met Lundberg at a bar in California and was immediately drawn to her charm and openness. Their relationship quickly turned intimate, with Lundberg describing their first encounter as “wild” in her unpublished writings.
Taraborrelli writes that Kennedy confided deeply in Lundberg, sharing insecurities and frustrations in his marriage. The affair allegedly became one of the most serious threats to his turbulent relationship with Jackie Kennedy, who reportedly considered divorcing him after learning of the fling.
The drama intensified when Lundberg fell pregnant in 1958. The book claims Kennedy reacted with panic, urging her not to keep the baby and offering her $400 to terminate the pregnancy. Lundberg agreed, and the two ended their relationship shortly afterwards. They never spoke again.
The biography also suggests JFK told Lundberg that his marriage to Jackie was “arranged” and only “fine, not great.” Despite this, Jackie ultimately remained with Kennedy after being convinced by his father, Joseph Kennedy, who reportedly promised her a large sum of money.
Kennedy went on to become the 35th President of the United States in 1960. According to the author, his relationship with Lundberg was completely hidden from the public until now.
