Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has come under fire after reportedly spending ₦1.8 billion on four luxury vehicles for his official convoy, including a 2025 armoured Lexus, a Land Cruiser, and two Toyota Hiace buses.

“The vehicles are parked close to the clinic in the Government House and were brought in last Saturday,” a source told SaharaReporters.

Additionally, contracts for 12 more SUVs have been awarded, with two each reportedly meant for the governor’s wives and the remaining for his convoy.

Sources allege inflated costs and irregularities in the contract process, with one claiming, “The contract was awarded to a commissioner in the cabinet who acted as the contractor.”

This spending contrasts sharply with Jigawa’s struggles: ₦6.9 billion IGR versus ₦10.9 billion borrowed in early 2025. Meanwhile, key infrastructure sectors like health, flood control, and road rehabilitation received no actual spending despite large allocations.
