Jigawa spent more on religious agencies than on healthcare and education in six months.

The Jigawa State government has spent more on Hisbah and other religious activities than on primary healthcare and education projects within the first half of 2025, a budget report has revealed.

According to the state’s second-quarter budget implementation report, N423.94 million was spent on Hisbah and religious activities, representing 184% performance far above the N230 million initially approved.

In contrast, only N30.1 million of the N95 million allocated for primary healthcare centres was disbursed, while secondary schools received just N4.26 million of N31 million. Funds for school clubs and extra-curricular activities remain largely untouched.

Meanwhile, the Girls’ Child Health-Education Programme saw a better performance with N423.83 million spent out of N862 million.

The report also shows that N1.09 billion 59.3% of the N1.85 billion approved for honorariums had been spent by mid-year.
