ABC will bring back Jimmy Kimmel Live! after suspending it over remarks about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 23, following a weeklong suspension prompted by the host’s comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination. “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” Disney said in a statement.
The network added it reached the decision to resume airing after “thoughtful conversations with Jimmy.” Kimmel had criticized political reactions to Kirk’s death, saying, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
The late-night host also offered condolences on social media, writing, “On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.” Kimmel has hosted the program since 2003.
