A judge has denied Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mistrial request, ruling that testimony about destroyed fingerprint evidence in a 2011 arson case was not prejudicial and would be struck from the record.
A judge has denied Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ motion for a mistrial in his ongoing criminal trial, where he faces charges including racketeering and sex trafficking.
At Tuesday’s hearing in Manhattan, Combs’ attorney Alexandra Shapiro objected to testimony from arson investigator Lance Jimenez regarding destroyed fingerprint evidence related to a 2011 firebombing of Kid Cudi’s car. Jimenez said fingerprint cards were destroyed by LAPD in 2012. Prosecutors implied Combs may have been involved.
“This type of conspiracy is out there, and this bought into it,” said Shapiro. “There’s no way to unring this bell.”
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request, stating, “There was absolutely no testimony from the witness that was prejudicial in any way.”
The judge struck the testimony from the record and reaffirmed that no abnormality had been established in the LAPD’s actions.
The trial continues amid mounting allegations, including testimony from Combs’ former assistant that he once threatened to kill Kid Cudi over his connection with singer Cassie.
