The Justice Department has released transcripts of an interview with Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime associate, in which she defended President Donald Trump. Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking crimes connected to Epstein, was interviewed last month by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in Tallahassee, Florida.
In the interview, Maxwell insisted she “never witnessed the President in any inappropriate setting in any way.” She described Trump as “a gentleman in all respects” and said he was “always very cordial and very kind” when they met in the 1990s through her father.
Maxwell also said she did not recall any Mar-a-Lago masseuses being recruited for Epstein but acknowledged it was “possible.” On Epstein’s death, she claimed she does not believe he died by suicide, contradicting official findings.
The release came as the House Oversight Committee began reviewing the first batch of subpoenaed Epstein files.
