Former Abia governor Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have expressed deep sorrow over the death of Senator Okey Ezea, recalling him as a man defined by humility, faith, integrity and unwavering service to his constituents.
Kalu said he received the news “with profound shock and deep sorrow,” describing Ezea as more than a colleague but a “trusted brother” whose Catholic faith and moments of shared worship left lasting memories. Akpoti-Uduaghan mourned him as “a good man—wise, gentle, and deeply supportive,” noting that his prayers sustained her during difficult times in the Senate.
Both lawmakers praised his calm leadership, principled voice, and ability to unite people across political divides, adding that his passing leaves a significant void in the National Assembly and in the Enugu North community he served with “pride, dedication and an unbreakable commitment.”
