Kano police have arrested a man accused of stabbing his grandparents to death during an argument, with investigations ongoing.
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man who allegedly stabbed his grandparents to death following a heated argument at Kofar Dawanau Quarters in Kano metropolis.
According to a statement issued Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Police reports indicate the suspect attacked his grandfather, Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and grandmother, Hadiza Tasidi, 65, with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries.
Both victims were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed them dead. Their remains have since been released to family members for burial in line with Islamic rites.
SP Kiyawa noted that the suspect may have been under the influence of intoxicants during the attack. He added that Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section. “The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he said.
