PDP Chairman Yusuf Kibiya described the exercise as “totally devoid of all democratic processes,” accusing political thugs of intimidating voters and compromising the integrity of the polls
KANO — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State has rejected the outcome of the re-run elections in Bagwai/Shanono and Ghari/Tsanyawa state constituencies, alleging widespread irregularities and violence.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, PDP Chairman Yusuf Kibiya described the exercise as “totally devoid of all democratic processes,” accusing political thugs of intimidating voters and compromising the integrity of the polls.
Kibiya urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a level playing field for all parties, warning that the credibility of elections was at stake. He also called on security agencies to protect voters and uphold peaceful assembly.
The PDP chairman further appealed to political leaders to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and support transparent, peaceful elections, while demanding investigations into electoral breaches and sanctions against offenders.
Meanwhile, Kano Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, confirmed the arrest of 288 suspected thugs during the re-run polls.
