Pop star Katy Perry and journalist Gayle King joined four other women on Blue Origin’s first all-female space tourism mission, launching Monday at 9:30 a.m. ET aboard the New Shepard rocket in West Texas.

Pop icon Katy Perry and journalist Gayle King were among six women who launched into space Monday aboard Blue Origin’s all-female suborbital mission.

The New Shepard rocket lifted off at approximately 9:30 a.m. ET from the company’s West Texas site, marking the 11th crewed flight for the spacecraft.

Only 15% of over 700 people who’ve traveled to space have been women, making this mission notable.

“It is the highest high,” Perry said after landing. “And it is surrender to the unknown, trust… I couldn’t recommend this experience more.”

When asked about a potential song inspired by her trip, she responded, “Oh, for sure, 100%.”

Blue Origin began live coverage at 8 a.m. ET.
