“Our meeting was successful because they heard our cries and we heard theirs.”
BIRNIN KEBBI — The Kebbi State Elders Forum and officials of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) on Wednesday met to discuss ways of improving electricity supply across the state.
Deputy Chairman of the forum, Justice Muhammad Suleiman Ambursa, described the meeting as successful, saying both parties “heard our cries and we heard theirs and both of us will make sacrifices to get improved power supply.”
He urged residents to pay their bills directly to KEDCO, warning against using proxies who divert payments. Ambursa also blamed the theft of electrical equipment on the company’s dismissal of experienced staff without benefits and appealed to the state government to provide 15 additional 15kVA transformers for equitable distribution.
Regional Manager Muhammad Sani Makinu said the engagement was “fruitful” and promised improved power supply as consumers settle outstanding bills.
The meeting was attended by former officials, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
